Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa continues its partnership with local San Diego nonprofit, ProduceGood, (deemed essential during this pandemic) and its mission of providing food to those in need. With their focus on sustainability and care for the local community, Rancho Valencia and ProduceGood will harvest the resort’s on-property citrus groves and offer a gleaning pick of its lemons and signature Valencia oranges to help the local community during the COVID-19 crisis.
Rancho Valencia and ProduceGood will be having a Quick Pick at the resort on Tuesday, April 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., whereas two to four volunteers will be picking lemons and oranges from the groves, using COVID-19 protocols of gloves, masks, and social distancing. The volunteers will harvest all ripe lemons and oranges, divide the harvest and deliver them to the Community Resource Center and Kitchen for Good in San Diego to provide to the food-insecure in the San Diego community.
Over the course of the past year of this partnership, Rancho Valencia and ProduceGood have harvested almost 1,000 pounds of lemons from the resort’s on-property citrus groves to date.
